What is a Flash Competition?
This is a competition format where competitors can watch each other climb, but each climber only gets one try. 

What to Expect during Flashacre?

  • This will be a fast-paced, sudden death (single-elimination) competition... in costume! 

  • ​There will be a total of two rounds with a possible 3rd tiebreaker round.

  • The rest of the gym will be open for spooky climbing!

​Flash Competition... How it Works

 

  • This will be a fast-paced, single-elimination, sudden death competition.​

  • There will be a total of two rounds with a possible 3rd tiebreaker round.
     

  • Round 1 (Qualifier): Each climber will be randomly selected to climb the designated male or female route.  

  • Climbers are allowed two attempts. 
     

  • Round 2 (Finals): Each finalist will be randomly selected to climb a designated male or female final route. 

  • Finalists will be allowed a single, sudden death try to make as much progress or flash the climb. 

  • Each finalist's progress will be scored. Progress is measured by showing positive control of a hold. Touching or 'slapping' a hold will not be considered progress.

Don't want to compete?

  • Spectating is free with gym entry! costume is encouraged but not required.

  • Most of the bouldering, top-rope and lead climbing walls will be available  for spooky climbing.

  • Costume competition followed by a dance party DJ'd by Keala Kennelly

Payment due on entry. All paid competitors will receive a Flashacre T-shirt! Limited sizes available on first come first serve basis.
